How to Obtain a Part 107 License

Who is Eligible for a 107 certificate?

  • Be At least 16 years old
  • Be Able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Be in a physical and mental condition to safely fly a UAS
  • Posses Valid Photo ID

Step 1: Airman Profile

Create an Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application (IACRA) profile, and save the FTN number you are assigned

Step 2: Register for the Exam

You will schedule your exam through PSI testing services

  • The Assessment is listed as: Unmanned Aircraft General (UAG)                                        
  • Your FTN Number is required to register for this exam
  • The Exam Fee is $175
  • You will need a two factor authentication tool to create your account

Step 3: STUDY!

You can find the UAG study guide FREE on the FAA’s website

Guided courses are also available through vendors like; King Schools, PSI, Pilot institute and many others.

**Tip from ROB: unlike 10 years ago, the FAA no longer releases test banks, so don't count on memorized answers**

Step 4: Pass your Exam

The exam will consist of 60 questions, and requires a 70% score to pass. 

After the Exam, you’ll be given a printed copy of the exam report: Make sure to save the control number, you'll need it for the next step!

Step 5: Apply for your Certificate!

Log into your (IACRA) Account.

Click on "Start New Application" 

  Application Type "Pilot",     

Certifications "Remote Pilot"

2. When prompted, enter the 17-digit Knowledge Test Exam ID 

(Note: it may take up to 48 hours from the test date for the knowledge test to appear in IACRA)


Receive your Certificate!

A confirmation email will be sent, and processing will begin when the applicant has completed their TSA background check. 

Once Processed, another email will provide instructions for printing a copy of the temporary remote pilot certificate from IACRA.

(Hard Copies usually arrive in 4-8 weeks)
